Caracal cats have striking, almost painted looking facial features and those characteristic long furry tufts growing from their ears. They are very secretive and mostly nocturnal in the wild, and have been adored, even tamed, since ancient Egypt times. The name caracal is adapted form the Turkish name “karrah-kulak” meaning ‘cat with black ears’.
