Arthur Conan Doyle author of the Sherlock Holmes novels famously came from Edinbrugh basing his character losely on an Edinburgh surgeon named Dr. Joseph Bell who he studied with. This is part of a series of original illustrations featuring well (and sometimes lesser) known Edinburgh streets and monuments.
